Weight loss surgery options

There are different surgical options to help you achieve your weightloss goals. In your consultation, our team will discuss the best option for you, based on your personal needs.

Here is an overview of each option.

Sleeve Gastrectomy

In this procedure, the stomach is converted into a long tube, which reduces its size.  The stomach is then stapled along its length, and the excess stomach is removed.  It works by making you feel full sooner, because the stomach is now much smaller and holds less food.

Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass

This procedure involves stapling the top of the stomach to make a small pouch. The digestive tract is re-routed so that food passes from the top of the new stomach into the middle part of the small intestine.

This kind of surgery focuses on the way the body absorbs high-calorie foods, and prevents some of the calories from being absorbed.

Gastric Balloon Surgery

A gastric balloon, also known as a stomach balloon, is an inflatable device that is temporarily placed into the stomach. The balloon limits the amount of food the stomach can hold and thereby creates an early feeling of fullness and satiety. Less intake of food will ultimately result in weight loss.
